Perífrasis. Revista de Literatura, Teoría y Crítica is the journal published by the Department of Humanities and Literature at Universidad de los Andes, located atCarrera 1 18A 12,  of. The structure of the journal is as follows:  an editor, an assistant editor, an editorial board and a scientific board, who support the quality and pertinence of the journal’s content.

          Both in its printed and digital (open access) versions, Perífrasis publishes research articles and reviews in Spanish and English. The journal is published biannually (January-June, July-December)and each issue is released at the beginning of each period.


Author Responsibilities

Authors must sign the Responsability Form.  In this form authors take responsibility for the content of the article and declare that their papers are original works, that have obtained the permission to reproduce material which is not their property, and that they have recognize its source.

         Articles submitted to the journal’s call for papers must not be under evaluation by any other publication and will only be received in digital format the following e-mail address: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. These must meet the Submission Guidelines criteria, which can be accessed, in English and Spanish, in the web site and in the printed version of the journal.

          If an article is accepted and changes are requested, the author will have two weeks to work on them. Once an article is accepted for publication, the author must sign a consent form for the transfer of rights to Universidad de los Andes for both the printed and the digital version of the journal. In it, the author must specify the article authorship and that the article respects the intellectual property rights of third parties.

          In case the author finds inaccuracies or errors in his or her article after it has been published, he or she must publicly retract. Otherwise, Perífrasis will retract the article and will make public this information.

          If the author would like to include the article in a different publication, he or she must wait at least six months from the publication date of Perífrasis to do so. The author must request written authorization from the Editorial Borad and the journal editor, and declare Perífrasis as the original publication.


Editorial Responsibilities, Peer Review and Evaluators Responsibilities

Once the articles are received, the Editorial Board will evaluate their basic compliance with the editorial requirements of Perífrasis and will submit them to a plagiarism check. If partial or total plagiarism is detected, the article is not sent for evaluation and the author will be notified with the rejection reason. Once approved by this committee, the document will be sent for double-blind, external peer review. In the review form, reviewers must declare that they have no conflict of interest with the evaluation.

          Results of the review will be announced through a letter of acceptance, acceptance with changes, or rejection, which will be sent to the authors by e-mail. If an article is accepted and changes are requested, the author will have two weeks to work on them. Once these changes are reviewed, the author will be informed about the final approval and publishing dates. During reviewing the review period, Perífrasis may contact the authors.

          The Editorial Board will determine, based on the result of the peer review, whether an article will be published or not, as well as which articles can be published in future issues. The Editorial Board reserves the right to decide on copyediting when it deems it necessary.

          As soon as an issue of the journal is released, the editor has the responsibility to make it available to authors, the institutions with whom exchange agreements have been established, as well as national and international indexation systems, repositories, and databases. The editor will also be in charge of sending the journal to active subscribers.
